Function: defaultMaxCells()

defaultMaxCells(format): number

Defined in: src/core/releases.ts:231

The default cell limit for a format on this process's heap.

Parameters​

format​

"rows" | "columns"

"rows" (100 bytes budgeted per cell) or "columns" (30 bytes per cell).

Returns​

number

floor(v8 heap_size_limit / bytes-per-cell): about 45.0M cells for rows and 149.9M for columns on Node's default 4288 MB heap; scales with --max-old-space-size.

Remarks​

The default for ReleaseLoaderOptions.maxCells. A measured heuristic (see BYTES_PER_CELL), not a bound: a selection of only long-string columns costs more per cell.
